Message from The Head Of School

Dear Parents,

St. John’s school now has a top 10 list. The following are the “Top 10 Brain Foods for Children”:

1.     Salmon-source for omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA-helps with mental skills tests.

2.     Eggs-protein and choline to help memory development

3.     Peanut Butter-vitamin E, thiamin-helps nervous system

4.     Whole Grains-glucose, B-vitamins nourish a healthy nervous system

5.     Oats/Oatmeal-provide energy or fuel for the brain-source of vitamin E, B-vitamins, potassium and zinc

6.     Berries-high levels of antioxidants, especially vitamin C-help prevent cancer

7.     Beans-protein and complex carbs, lots of vitamins and minerals-kidney and pinto beans contain more omega 3 fatty acids than other beans

8.     Colorful Veggies-tomatoes, carrots, spinach-best sources of antioxidants that keep brain cells healthy

9.     Milk & Yogurt-essential for growth of brain tissue, neurotransmitters, and enzymes-packed with protein and B-vitamins, calcium, and vitamin D

Soccer News

Don’t forget the Soccer Banquet on Thursday, Nov. 11th at 6:30 in Parrish Hall.  We need your soccer shirts back.  Don’t forget to turn them in to the office.  There will be a charge for lost shirts.


Fall Review Program

The Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st grades will have a Fall Program on Tuesday, November 23rd at 10:30.

Bedlam Game

It’s time for Bedlam again….Support your favorite team by wearing their colors on Tuesday, November 23rd.

Wear your Red for OU or your Orange for OSU.


Thanksgiving Lunch          

Our Thanksgiving Lunch for family and friends is on Tuesday, November 23rd at 11:15.  Come and join your child for Thanksgiving Lunch at school.  We will attach another form to sign up for this lunch.  We need these forms back by Friday the 12th in order to get our order in on time.


PTO News         

SAVE THE DATE and make plans to attend Turkey Bingo

Friday, November 19th.  It is a fun family event.   Back by popular demand the Chili Cook-Off will be part of the evening.  The entry fee is $5.00 dollars, with prizes going to 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The obvious menu for the evening will be tasty Chili Frito Pies and Chili Dogs with all the extra toppings.

Ø  Drop off your Chili Entry Form at the office.

Ø  Donations for prizes can be dropped of at office (candles, bottle wine, fall items, board games).

Ø  Dinner 5:30 pm    Adults $3.00  Kids $2.00 w/ drinks

Ø  Bingo Cards 2/$5.00 – 1/$3.00

Ø  Bring Cash for Bake Sale
