Philosophy of Our School
Our faculty is degreed and certified in education, keeping abreast of education to offer a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children. St. John’s Episcopal School fosters an education which seeks not only to develop each student academically, but more importantly, to prepare each child as an individual to live a creative, humane, and compassionate life worthy of a child of God. As a Christian school we bring the love of Christ to the children through our actions in the classroom, playground and chapel, encouraging a positive self-concept and a respect for each other and our differences. This Christian environment is confirmed through the purposeful structuring and direction of community experiences, both within and outside the school.
At the core of our teaching is the belief that each child is an individual with needs and talents unique to him which must be nurtured and enriched. Through interactive curriculum and a variety of teaching methods, we assist each child to discover his/her strengths, to build on his/her success, and learn from his/her mistakes. By providing strong spiritual and emotional support in addition to a thorough academic foundation, we encourage each student to become the best person he or she can be.
