Religion

Overview

SPIRITUAL DIMENSION OF THE SCHOOL
St. John’s School is a community which seeks to live out the values of the gospel in all aspects of our program.  We emphasize the spiritual development of faculty and students alike.  Our worship services, based on the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, are designed to not only teach basic tenets of the Christian faith, but also to acknowledge and affirm the importance of each of us as spiritual beings and children of a loving God.  St. John’s teaches character education, which goes hand in hand with the religious education classes. In looking closely at the values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, caring, fairness, and good citizenship we continually re-affirm our belief that we are created in the image of God, and that we honor that image by caring about the growth and development of ourselves and others.

Chapel

The preschool and kindergarten have their own chapel services with the chaplain once a week.  Grades one through eighth attend Chapel every Wednesday at 11:00am.  Once a month, usually the last Wednesday of the month, grades one through eight will celebrate the Holy Eucharist at 11:00 am.  All parents and friends are invited to come and share in the fellowship with their child.
The Episcopal Church invites all baptized Christians to the Communion table.  If a student has not been baptized, but wishes to receive Communion, he or she needs to speak with the school chaplain or the rector regarding baptism instruction.  In the meantime, everyone is invited to the altar to receive a blessing.

School Chapel – Wednesday at 11:00 am
School Holy Eucharist – last Wednesday of every month 11:00 am
All parents, grandparents and special friends are welcome to join us for any of the services.

Christian Education
