Community Outreach

The school is involved in many outreach programs during the year.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

St. John’s Episcopal School’s 7th and 8th grade classes raised over $650.00 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society fundraiser “Pennies for Pasta”!  The school raised over $900.00 in total.  St. John’s is a small private school in the middle of north OKC, so with twenty-two 7th and 8th graders they were able to collect a lot of money for this wonderful foundation.  The teachers helped them come up with a challenge to see who could raise the most money.  The challenge was a little tricky:  Each class had a box to save their coins, but it was copper against silver.  An example would be; if one class had 10 pennies in their box and the other class dropped a dime in the box it would cancel out the 10 pennies.  So it was a race against copper and silver, which the 8th grade won!  This challenge worked really great towards the benefit of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society because of all the coins brought in to win the class challenge it added up to over $650.00!

The 7th and 8th graders went with teachers to deposit the money into the foundations account and to see if their money counting skills were accurate and they were!  “We are very proud of all of the St. John’s Episcopal School students for helping out this great cause, but we are extremely proud of our 7th and 8th graders for working so hard and learning what a it feels like to truly serve others” commented St. John’s Head of School, Beth Kelly.

Light the Way for a Cure

Our walk will begin around 6:00pm so BRING YOUR FLASHLIGHT TO SHOW YOUR LIGHT FOR DIABETES! By walking the track with our flashlights we are showing that we believe there is a light at the end of the tunnel in finding the cure for Diabetes and that we want to help it come as quickly as possible! So come and join us for the walk and be sure and collect your donations. Each class who has a 100% participation in bringing back their donation envelopes with donations will win a movie and popcorn party for their class.
